The theme: Queer Horror?
1st Queer

"Queer," which is at first glance who identified themselves as lesbian and gay. But also who is identified as: bisexual or pansexual, transsexual, transvestite, drag queen, leather daddy, lipstick lesbian, pansy, fairy, dyke, butch, femme, asexual, intersex, polyamant, autosexuell. "Queer" is, who does not want to add to the heteronormative order, whether for example by "wrong" sexual practices (BDSM, Fetish, Kokrophagie), unusual behavior (cross-dressing, "hypersexuality") or deviant desire (eg "" differences in age, incest, or love to / from physically or mentally disabled).

Originally used mainly against gay as an insult, was "queer" reinterpreted for political Solidarbegriff of gays and lesbians in the large-AIDS hysteria in the early 90s and has since become virulent in theory and practice of policy. Queer activism wants to sabotage the heteronormative regime. As a political term is "queer" but also confronted with the problem, even to turn to exclude unwanted (eg, pedophilia).

In Queer Studies makes the category of "queer" heteronormativity as the other of the detection of constitutive matrix in the culture, eg by the Queer Reading of literature or film, and the investigation of sexual "deviances" in scientific discourse. It links the "Queer Theory" in Foucault and Butler, by the assumption that gender and their characteristics are socially constructed and socially, that is not natural and biologically determined. Similar to the traditional heteronormativity are also the categories gay, lesbian and bisexual characterized by limitations and boundaries. "Queer" opens up new perspectives on gender identity, it is played with the typical characteristics and confused.

2nd Horror

Horror is a feeling of the uncanny in the presence of certain events (eg the appearance of a monster or a "strange" coincidence). The feeling can creep up on us in reality (as child), but is usually in the safe context of a horror aesthetic consumption. What triggers but in us from the horror?

The Canadian film scholar Robin Wood suggests as a basic formula of all Horrornarrative: "Normality is threatened by the monster." The superficial threat of the monster to life and limb corresponds to a depth that has rocked the symbolic order to its foundations. In horror, the "normality" (the world as we know them and overlook) smashed and set in its place a different (frightening) reality. Particularly shocking is when we suspect (or even certainly are), that the enlarged at the monstrous world is somehow true - and thus the assumed normality as reality is an illusion.

3rd Queer Horror

The challenge to the heteronormativity of the queer concept corresponds to the intrusion of the monstrous KORE SOUNDPACK to normality, "Heteronormativity is threatend by the Queer." With the deconstruction of heteronormativity and the Geschlechterbinarität dissolve other fixed points on the cultural, eg the family (as the nucleus of society) and the Patriarchate. As much as the Monster and the Queer as a threat, so they also have the potential to own fascination. The dissolution of the existing order can be just as longs as liberation. With the destruction of the gender order is the subject shocked and relieved at the same time.

In horror monsters wear both the queer features (eg, fetishes, sadism, etc.) or the constellation of figures can be a "queer reading of" if, for example relationship between the male hero and his love interest by one not necessarily sexually labeled monsters will disturb the heteronormale - and thus eliminating this source of interference is the production of heteronormativity as an ideal state.

The question would also be beyond the subversive potential of Horrors, how the genre affirmed the heteronormativity, for example through the presentation of cliched gender (women are always victims and perpetrators as they are often portrayed masculine).

"Queer Horror" means not only a queer perspectivization on the genre, but can also - as part of the queer activism - deliberate setting of queer issues in the outline of the horror genre to be. Especially in recent years "changed queer people" more engaged in the hero or victim role, while the norm is coagulated to terrible threat. Not least, the question is therefore also how the queerness of artists in whose works inscribed (from Lord Byron to James Whale and Clive Barker).

"Queer Horror" is not so strange, strange melange: the connection between "Queer" and "Horror" is structurally predetermined.
